District Goals

Vision and Strategic Planning Process

Like many school districts across the nation, Hinsdale Township High School District 86 experienced the effects of a rapidly changing educational environment and determined that it was critical for District leadership to plan seriously for the future. Therefore, in the fall of 2007, District 86 embarked on a Vision and Strategic Planning Process in order to create our own future and manage this change effectively. The process involved thousands of District stakeholders whereby students, faculty, staff, parents, recent graduates, and community residents had an opportunity to state their opinions regarding the current state and future of the District before the findings were developed into strategic initiatives.

From this comprehensive Vision and Strategic Planning Process, came an Administrative Organizational Study in December 2007. This Study led to administrative appointments within the District with the goal to better meet the needs of all faculty and staff in District 86 as we continue to strive to improve our customer relations and service to all of our employees and constituents in District 86. In spring 2008, the findings from all District stakeholders, collected from survey responses, focus groups, and a Community Forum, were compiled and reviewed to create a Vision and Strategic Plan for the District, which the Board of Education adopted on June 16, 2008. District Administration then set about formulating an Action Plan to carry out the Vision and Strategic Plan. The Board of Education formally adopted the District’s Three-Year Action Plan (2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2010-2011) on August 18, 2008.
