Professional Growth and Curriculum Development and Renewal

In District 86 we aspire for all students to learn as much as possible in order to maximize their future opportunities.  Genuine student learning begins with teachers who are passionately committed to student learning and to their own professional growth.  It is our duty as a district to provide our faculty with ongoing Professional Development experiences that are guided by effective instruction research.

Serving all students requires District 86 to develop and continually renew a richly varied curriculum, from extensive Advanced Placement offerings to courses designed for students in need of accelerated skill development.  We offer well-sequenced core academic courses of study and encourage student participation in practical and fine arts as well as co-curricular and extra-curricular learning experiences.

Teaching and learning in District 86 will be continuously monitored to assure effectiveness and to enable improvement.  Our commitment is to provide the best possible learning environment for each student.
