We offer a warm welcome to the Class of 2013! The upperclassmen have set the bar high—inside and outside of the classroom. We know you are up to the challenge and wish you the best as you begin your high school career. We encourage you to join your peers in the many extra-curricular activities offered in District 86. We do hope you enjoy your high school experience and that you find District 86 a great place to learn and grow.
The school year begins with some new administrators joining the District 86 family. In July, the District welcomed Dr. Joyce Powell as Director of Student Services. While she will be based in the Administrative Center, she will also be in each building frequently as she works closely with the faculty, staff, and parents to provide the best education and student services possible to our students. This summer we also welcomed Eric Martzolf as Assistant Principal for Operations at Hinsdale South. We look forward to his leadership and contributions to the Hornet administration. Last, but certainly not least, we are very pleased to welcome Hinsdale Central Interim Principals Tom Paulsen and Frank Kesman to the leadership team this school year. We believe the joint appointment of Mr. Paulsen and Mr. Kesman offers an opportunity for the building to continue its level of academic excellence as we conduct a national search for a permanent Principal for the 2010-11 school year and beyond. (Click here to follow the national search process, launched the week of August 24th by our Executive Search Firm BWP and Associates.)
We also welcome the new faculty and support staff who joined the District 86 family in the last few weeks. We’re glad you’re here and look forward to your contributions to the educational experience of the students we serve. (Click here for a list of our new teachers and staff.)
We appreciate your interest and support of the District 86 family—most importantly, our dedicated students. Please check our website often for updates on what is happening in Hinsdale Township High School District 86. It’s an exciting place to work and learn!
Best regards,
Dr. Nicholas D. Wahl
Superintendent of Schools
