FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Additional Illinois State Scholars named at Hinsdale Central

District 86 is pleased to announce that nine additional students from Hinsdale Central High School have recently been named as 2010 Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission recently notified the school that they had recalculated student eligibility for State Scholar status for Hinsdale Central due to the school’s correction in class size for Central’s Class of 2010 (from 590 to 690). Based on this recalculation of student eligibility, they named nine additional Central students as Illinois State Scholars. These students are: Robert Barba, Terrence Brennan, Caitlin Capobianco, Emma Carroll, Emily Evans, Jack Hellwig, Kyle Henshaw, Kelley Klebenow, and Andrew Kopp. District 86 congratulates these exceptional students for this accomplishment!

At the December 14, 2009 Board of Education Meeting, District 86 announced that there were 250 Illinois State Scholars at Hinsdale Central and 77 at Hinsdale South. This recent announcement of additional students brings the total number of District 86 Illinois State Scholars from 327 to 336; Hinsdale Central has 259 and Hinsdale South has 77.

About ten percent of all high school seniors, who have scored in the 95th percentile on the ACT, SAT, or Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE), are designated as State Scholars and receive a Certificate of Achievement for their accomplishment.
